COORS LIGHT x PATRICK MAHOMES: THE COORS LIGHT TIME CAPSULE COMMERCIAL | CREATIVE STRATEGY


Kansas City Chiefs’ star quarterback Patrick Mahomes is a diehard fan of Coors Light. But the NFL’s strict guidelines prevent him from promoting Coors Light beer as an active NFL player.



So we gave a middle finger to the NFL and made the commercial anyways. But we buried it in a time capsule only to be unearthed once Patrick Mahomes retires. And we released this spot in the meantime.




And to prove our commitment to the bit, we live streamed an entire ceremony dedicated to burying the time capsule at the Coors Brewing facility in Golden, Colorado—complete with a Coors archivist, a violinist, and a burial site that’s now apart of every brewery tour.


Then we created Redactrick Mahomes figurines, with a 3D fully pixelated face. Because again, Patrick himself can’t promote the beer. And we raised over $27,000 for Patrick’s charity: 15 and the Mahomies.
